The campaign positions jean shorts as the defining essential of the season, reimagined through Sweeney’s relaxed, everyday style.

According to American Eagle, denim shorts remain one of the most enduring pieces in fashion — evolving from 1970s counterculture to today’s digital generation.

Jennifer Foyle, President and Executive Creative Director of AE & Aerie, emphasized the direction:

“There is no summer uniform more timeless than a pair of jean shorts… pairing classic cutoffs with Sydney Sweeney’s signature ease makes AE denim the must-have this season.”

“Syd” — A More Personal Dimension

The campaign introduces “Syd,” a more casual, unfiltered version of Sydney Sweeney, captured in everyday moments — at home, running errands, and at the beach.

Shot against sunlit backdrops, open water, and blue skies, the visuals focus on:

  • wearable, real-life looks

Key pieces include the Low-Rise Shortie and other summer staples designed for versatility.

The collaboration also continues its partnership with Crisis Text Line, supporting mental health initiatives.

Custom pieces — including the Syd Jean and Syd Short — feature a butterfly detail symbolizing support for survivors of domestic violence. American Eagle will donate 100% of the purchase price of these items to the organization.
